Central Water & Power Research Station is now providing Telecommunication Services through provision of Voice & Data EPABX system from Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd. (BSNL) Pune, under the free EPABX scheme.

Under this scheme, the BSNL has installed their own exchange (EPABX system) in CWPRS and they will maintain it on rental basis. This new EPABX system has been commissioned w.e.f. 16.02.2007 from BSNL side.

The change over work from OLD to NEW EPABX has been carried out on 23.02.07.

All the BSNL telephone (Old and New) lines are now connected directly to the new EPABX/Exchange as given below :

New PRI Lines (Primary Rate Interface line)	2410 3200

Old 8 lines will continue for six months so as to minimize the disturbance	2438 1801 to 2438 1806

Features of our New EPABX are as follows :

Ø “9” Dialing facility : by dialing “9”, officials can contact Telephone Operator and make calls outside CWPRS. This is similar to old EPABX facility.

Ø Direct Inward Dialing facility : Direct Inward Dialing facility makes each extension behave as trunk-line without operator intervention.

For example :
To contact extension No.3299 from outside,
the caller can dial Number 2410 3299
(basic level 2410 & extension number)

After dialing this number, the caller can contact directly to extension No. 3299 without operator assistance.

All existing internal extensions will be same in future except Director’s office extension No.3200. New extensions given in Director’s office are :

Director 3500
PA to Director 3400

Ø DMKT telephone extensions like number 2000, 2002, 2006 … etc. have become inoperative.

Ø Following Direct BSNL lines connected in CWPRS will remain same.
