CWPRS Centenary Celebrations were held at CWPRS campus, Khadakwasla, Pune on 4 October 2016. Hon’ble Vice President of India Shri M. Hamid Ansari, the Chief Guest for the event delivered inaugural address. Hon’ble Minister for Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation (WR, RD & GR) Sushri Uma Bharti; Hon’ble Minister of State (WR, RD & GR) Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Balyan and other Ministers / Officers from Central and State Governments attended the Centenary Celebrations.
A Coffee Table Book on &ldquo CWPRS – Service through Research” and a Technical Compendium on &ldquo CWPRS Studies on Sardar Sarovar (Narmada) Project” was released by the Hon’ble Vice President of India during the inaugural ceremony. In recognition of the contributions of CWPRS in service to the nation, the Department of Posts also released a commemorative postage stamp on “Central Water and Power Research Station”.
As part of the Centenary Celebrations, a Documentary Film showing the enriched legacy of the CWPRS, its achievements and role in the nation building over the past 100 years, was also produced and telecasted by Doordarshan in June, 2016. Additionally, CWPRS observed an Open House Day in June 2016, granting open access to the general public, especially students. This event allowed visitors to explore physical models of several projects, providing a deeper understanding of the detailed studies undertaken to finalize layout and design parameters. The initiative aimed to foster better appreciation and awareness of CWPRS's extensive work and its importance in the engineering and water resources sector.
